Our Small Business Coaches offer specialised financial guidance and mentoring to small businesses across approximately 50% of the State within Central and Western NSW. Providing flexible delivery services via face to face, video and teleconferencing at no cost.
Our experienced and friendly team will work with your business to understand what stage of the business lifecycle you are in. We can then ascertain your business needs – and connect you with the right support and resources to help you take your business to the next level. Our dedicated team members can be trusted to respect you and your business, act independently and retain confidentiality.
PHILIP SMALL – Senior Small Business Coach
Our Senior Small Business Coach, Philip Small has the expertise and personal understanding of what it takes to succeed in business. He is a Chartered Accountant with a business advisory background across a range of industries including rural, service, manufacturing, education and tourism. Philip has worked with RFCSCR since early 2019 and values the ability to support rural small businesses as they face challenging times.
MICK WALLIS - Small Business Coach
Mick has 20 years’ experience as a successful business owner and advisor. Most recently as a business advisor on the Federal Government’s, Australian Small Business Advisory Services (ASBAS) Programme in the Central West NSW Orana Region.
He established and grew his own business in the Newcastle and Hunter Region from the ground up, to become the market leader from much larger multinationals. Eventually he sold the business to one of the world’s top 100 companies where he continued to work as a Regional Manager.
Mick focuses on what he has learnt in order to help other businesses grow and he has had the privilege of advising over 200 businesses. Importantly he is able to bring to the role the lessons and experience of these businesses. Mick is passionate about rural small business and has a unique understanding of what it takes to build a successful business in a market dominated by corporate giants.
KEN BORCHARDT - Small Business Coach
Ken has 17 years of experience in running his own successful business and many more in management. Ken knows the in’s and out’s of managing business, starting up and increasing both business and consumer profitability.
Ken has many qualifications behind him including a Diploma in Structural Engineering, Small Business Management, Winemaking and Wine Assessment to name a few. Ken is an active member of the community; he is a past board member of Macquarie Valley Food & Wine, Tourism, Development Corporation and Education. You can also find him on his bicycle or in the air as an Angel Flight Pilot helping many patients across NSW.
Ken is ready to share his expertise to small business owners and pave new ways to manage and encourage small business growth.
duncan milling - Small Business Coach
Duncan began with RFCS Central Region midway through 2020. He has spent his entire career involved in the agribusiness sector and has developed an extensive network as a result. He understands the business of primary production, and is keenly aware of the challenges faced by business owners.
He is a strategic thinker and enjoys collaborating with external stakeholders, and to the benefit of clients. Duncan is looking forward to supporting small rural businesses.
